When my parents became JW's in the late 1940's they told my parents "at least George will not have to go to school in this old system!"
Well George did go to school but at least "he will never have to work in this old system!"
Well George did get a job but he "didn't need a pension because he will never retire in this old system!"
Well George did retire and he has now got a BUS PASS!
THAT'S HOW CLOSE IT WAS OVER 60 YEARS AGO!

Did you ever pass up an opportunity to leave the truth?
by truthseeker inyears ago when everything was going pear shaped for me in my personal life and in the congregation, i saw my opportunity to leave.
i had no friends, the elders didn't like me and i was one step away from resigning.
i had nothing to lose.. this was back in '97 before i got the internet.. one of my regrets is that i didn't leave when i had the chance.

Yes in 1984. I actually stopped attending the meetings for a few weeks but returned because of the effect it was having on my wife. I think it would have destroyed my parents, in-laws and other JW relations. Big mistake; I should have bit the bullet then and let nature take its course.

by dorayakii inengland is the oldest nation-state in europe.
it is a pround and historic nation that is often buried under a "british" identity by the uk government.
within the european unon, scotland and wales are treated as regional entities, yet england is broken up into 6 regions and is not acknowledged as an entity in itself.

This was also held a couple of weeks ago at the East Pennines Assembly Hall. About 7000 'attended' including those connected by phone link. The talk was by Bro Leon Weaver of the Brooklyn Bethel. I wasn't there but the only 'exciting' news I heard was that he told them all to look out for the July 15th WT. No doubt the bit about the GB and HS.

Is Jehovah Telling the Governing Body to Shut Down?

rutherford is reported to have sought cash and rationed coal as a test of jehovah's will.
knorr reported on getting an unexpected windfall of cash when they sought to buy the towers hotel.. but from where i sit, jehovah seems to have become very ungenerous towards these would-be theocrats, in recent years.. they dumped subscriptions.. they cut literature.. they went to paperbacks.. they cut magazines, by my count, for the third time.. they laid off bethelites.. they sold off brooklyn buildings.. they sold off printing/binding equipment.. so, now their latest 'litmus test' of jehovah's will is to simply dump the magazines in one lump and tell people to only take what they need.

I hope that I am still alive to see it when they do their final shutdown.
Wishful thinking ldrnomo. They will still be around in another 100 years, the 2110 CD-ROM will only have the last 50 years WT's on and the GB will be telling how 100 years ago people mis-understood the generation overlap and had too much expectation of Armageddon coming when they had NEVER forecast it! Teachings such as the blood issue may have changed to a 'conscience matter' especially if any sucessful court cases have been brought. There will still be a GB living in paradise in the hills.
